Ally Balcerzak

Bio: I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and attended the University at Buffalo where I received a Bachelors of Arts in English with a creative writing focus and minor in Geography: International Business and World Trade. While at UB I spent three years as an editor for Generation Magazine, working my way up from Literary Editor to Managing Editor to Editor-in-Chief for my final year with the magazine. I have experience writing about a vast array of topics such as music, sports, and current events. I have also written numerous non-fiction prose pieces such as a biography on my grandmother, along with numerous fiction short stories and poems. Recently I have begun working as a freelance photographer, shooting mainly concerts at small venues. Currently I am attending S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University where I am working on a masters degree in Magazine, Newspaper and Online journalism. While working on my degree, I have joined the writing team at EDM.com, a member of The EDM Network. Along with creating a weekly playlist and writing about big news in electronic music, my position at the Network has allowed me to interview some of the biggest names in electronic music and photograph shows at various venues in Syracuse, NY. After graduation it is my goal to work for a major magazine or media company as an editor or multimedia journalist. I ultimately hope to one day have my own magazine focusing primarily on music, entertainment and current events.
